US 7 day tour west and central Cuba
This tour of west and central Cuba gives more than a glimpse of the rural and urban Cuban way of life, meeting interesting Cubans along the way. The itinerary fits the requirements of the people to people licence and passengers can fly on a direct charter flight from Miami to Havana or fly via a third country such as Mexico. For larger groups, we can offer transport with a van, or 16, 25 or 45 seater luxury coaches. Whatever you choose, we will look after you in Cuba to make sure you have a great time.
DAY 1:
Meet on arrival at Havana airport and transfer in taxi to Hotel Valencia (a small colonial style hotel) for the next 2 nights B&B right in the heart of old Havana.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, a guided walking tour of old Havana with an English speaking guide to see the important sights. Lunch in old Havana. Then visit the lovely home of Art curator Milagros Borges in Vedado district where she has paintings of Cuban artists. Then back to the hotel and dinner on your own. After dinner, options include visit to Tropicana cabaret.
DAY 3:
Depart with driver/guide in his taxi to Vinales (he speaks good English and will be with you out of Havana) stopping en route to see the coffee plantation at Las Terrazas in the Biosphere of the Sierra Rosario mountains. Lunch in old coffee house. Continue to Vinales stopping to see a Guarapero sugar cane drink stand. Gaze at the amazing panorama of the ‘Mogote’ hills from Hotel Los Jazmines viewpoint. Check into Hotel La Ermita in tropical class rooms for the next 2 nights. Dinner at the hotel or in a private restaurant.
DAY 4:
Walking trek of the Vinales valley guided by a biologist to see the wildlife etc. Stop at a farmer’s home. Suggested place for lunch is a fantastic organic restaurant overlooking the Mogotes (limestone outcrops typical of Vinales). Tour of the farm. After lunch, visit a typical tobacco Veguero (cigar planter) where you can learn how tobacco plants are grown and even taste a cigar. Dinner at hotel or in a private restaurant.
DAY 5:
Depart early for long journey to Trinidad, stopping at Cienfuegos for a visit of the main square, the Malecon seafront and visit the graphic print foundation. Check into a lovely private colonial home for 2 nights belonging to an Art dealer and his daughter, delightful people. Dinner tonight at a suggested Paladar private restaurant.
DAY 6:
Visit a local photographer and horse trainer who will give you a talk about life in Cuba and you will have a horse riding session. Lunch followed by a walking tour of Trinidad and visit to the main museum. Suggested dinner at Sol Ananda Paladar.
DAY 7:
Return to Havana stopping en route at the Che Guevara mausoleum near Santa Clara city, and check into hotel Florida in old Havana for final night B&B
